You can get any username you wish as an alias (for eg: if my real e mail ID is rmukundapte@alumni.kem.edu; you can have an alias ma@kem.edu or mukund@kem.edu to receive mails at the same account. This is not possible with other mail providers (Hotmail; Rediffmail or even gmail), This is subject to other alumni not having chosen these aliases) |

* What is an alias?: In spite of the fact that your e mail id will as per the format given above, we can create one or more alias for you.
For example rmukundapte@alumni.kem.edu can have an alias of ma@kem.edu or anything else you wish (even more than one!).
The advantage is that people sending mails to you can send on your alias name (which is often shorter - typically just your initials or a name you are popularly known by)
However, remember, that you can logon to your account only by your full username. Alias names are subject to availability - lest your friends have beaten you to it!
