Background and facilities available
The department was established in the year 1957 and is presently headed by Dr.A.M. Patwardhan. It has six faculty members and facilities available are Outpatient Clinics, Indoor Wards, Surgical Operation Theatres, Surgical ICU, Haemodynamic Monitoring, Ventilators, Defibrillators, Heart Lung Machines, Temporary Pacemakers, IABP, Blood Gas Analyser. This course was started in 1984.

Course Details -
There will be lectures and hands-on training to run Heart Lung Machine, to carry out Haemodynamic Monitoring during and after open heart surgery. Candidates will be instructed in acid base balance and electrolyte status during and after surgery.

Timing of the course - 1st August - 31st July
Periodicity - Annual
Duration of the course - One year
Eligibility - B.Sc. graduates.
Course fees - Rs. 1500/-

Evaluation - Written Test, Viva voce
