Ayurveda drug information and ADR monitoring
We regularly receive and
answer innumerable queries related to Ayurvedic drugs. These queries come from
our hospital as well as from others all over the state. We educate physicians
and patients by providing them unbiased scientific information regarding
Ayurvedic drugs.
A record of adverse drug reactions is kept and if necessary,
further investigations are carried out. We also screen herbal and herbo-mineral
preparations for steroids and heavy metals. If found positive for synthetic
steroids, the information is given both to patients as well as physicians. Through
this activity we have been able to prevent some adverse effects of the herbal
formulations in patients. Similarly we have identified herbal medicines that contained
unacceptable levels of heavy metals.
