Academic Activity

The department of cardiology being an academic institute has various academic activities.

The activities are centered round the training of the Resident doctors junior doctors, mainly and the paramedics like junior staff Nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and the dieticians. The academic activity consists of Teaching rounds in the ward and the ICCU daily, Grand Rounds once a week in the Ward and the ICCU, Seminars on Monday and Thursday morning, Journal class on Saturday morning at 8AM,

Pathology Class discussing academically interesting Pathology specimens on Wednesday afternoons, Catheterization meetings with Surgeons on Saturdays and clinical Tutorials once a week on Wednesdays. All the academic activities are supervised by a senior consultant . There is also a monthly clinical meeting held at the hospital in which the doctors of the other hospitals also participate.

Every year at least three workshops are held in the department where in International experts from the fields of Electrophysiology, Interventional Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Pediatric cardiology participate.

In addition to these, classes are regularly held for Trainee Nurses, Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists.

There is also a training program arranged by the department for General Practitioners and other doctors in the city of Mumbai. These consist mainly of Lecture demonstrations once a month on various aspects of preventive and therapeutic cardiology.
