Cardiology
ECG Quiz 3- Answer
The first row shows bradycardia with regular narrow QRS complexes and prominent T waves. The second row shows wide undulating waveform which is because of cable artefact. The proof that this is cable artefact, is evident because there are regular narrow QRS complexes sandwiched within this waveform.
It is important to realize that digital recording of ECG as in telemetry, Holter or cardioscope monitoring can at times result in electrical noise and may be misinterpreted as arrhythmia. Also, the hemodynamic & clinical status of the patient should be known before treating any arrhythmia. The principle should be to treat the patient & not the arrhythmia (only).
