Department of Cardiology
The Department of Cardiology is located on the 4th Floor of the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Center. This Cardiovascular and Thoracic Center is located in a separate small campus opposite to that of the Main building of the KEM Hospital. This center caters to all aspects of cardiology and has a separate department of Cardiovascular surgery and an academic department of cardiac pathology in the same wing .
The Cardiology department has a 14 bed ICCU, a 10 bed Intermediate facility and a 33 beds ward. The non-invasive laboratory has facilities for Exercise electrocardiography, Signal averaged Electrocardiography, Color Doppler echocardiography, Transesophageal echocardiography and Ambulatory electrocardiography. The invasive lab involves Adult diagnostic and Interventional procedures viz coronary ,balloon valvuloplasties, coronary angioplasty, pediatric diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, single and dual chamber Pacemaker implantations, diagnostic electrophysiologic studies and Radiofrequency catheter ablation of arrhythmias.
