Out patient department (OPD):

Location: Multi storey building, 1st Floor, Room No 13.
Timing: Fridays, 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm

: Self, unit patients, from other services
Enrollment : Regular, out-station, consultancy,
Average annual enrollment: 400-500 patients since 1995;
follow-up: 60-74 y-60%; 75 and 75+ : 75%
  • Complete physical check-up and evaluation by the GFA members at the initial visit and as desired by them / again annually · Information recorded in pre-designed record card
  • Baseline hematological, biochemical, ECG, XRC
  • Other investigations as indicated · Drug-bank: free drugs are dispensed during the clinic hours by the nurse
  • Health-education/supervisory care by GFA team
  • Follow-up: weekly / monthly / quarterly / biannual / annual
  • Therapeutic Workshop started in 1997-Patients under the guidance of Occupational therapists weekly attend this workshop and do handicrafts and other skilled jobs - exhibition of these articles periodically held

    (Indoor admissions if needed are done in medical unit ward-beds)

  • Health education lecture series in elderly care (Series 1-9)- held at KEMH (in Hindi, Marathi, English.- Also supervised education to the patient during visits.)

  • Visit to the home for the elderly by the Geriatric functional assessment (GFA) team regularly
  • Gifts distributed to the elderly on 1st October, World Geriatric day
