STUDY OF MENSTRUAL PATTERN IN TUBECTOMISED WOMEN
Rationale:
Tubal sterilization
is the method of choice for permanent contraception in India. In India women undergo
T.L soon after completing their families sometimes as early as at the age of twenty-five.
There is practically no data for our population on menstrual behaviour after tubal
sterilization, though studies abroad have thrown up interesting and conflicting
views.
Objective:
In
this study we proposed to study menstrual patterns of women after sterilization,
from data generated by home visits of women who have undergone sterilization.
Methodology:
The study is carried out
on women who have undergone TL at K.E.M. Hospital. The addresses of such patients
are obtained from the hospital records. Social workers visit the women at their
homes, administer a simple questionnaire regarding menstrual behavior of each
woman before and after sterilization was done. Women are directed to K.E.M. Hospital
Gynaecology O.P.D. in case of any complaints.
