Obstetrics and Gynaecology

SOCIAL AND BEHAVIOURAL RESEARCH

A Task Force Meeting on Social and Behavioural Research was held at ICMR HQRs and the following data on gender based prevalence of Tuberculosis (Pulmonary & Extra Pulmonary) was collected for it.

Of the patients referred for sputum AFB 62.86% were males as compared to 437.14% females. The sputum positivity was 33.12% in males as compared to 26.37% in females.

On radiological reporting:

  1. The incidence of reported tuberculosis in gastrointestinal investigations is 9.81% in males as compared to 11.72% in females.
  2. On evaluating the reporting of genitourinary tuberculosis the incidence as reported in males is 0.96% as compared to 3.55% in females.
  3. In CT, the incidence is 5.04% in males and 7.15% in females.
