The department offers comprehensive joint replacement services in hip and knee arthroplasty. A tertiary level referral center, it has a dedicated specialized operating room for arthroplasty with laminar flow and state of the art power systems and imaging systems. Hip replacement is being performed in both elderly and young arthritics for a variety of conditions including avascular necrosis, primary and failed trauma (acetabular fractures and fracture neck femur), rheumatoid arthritis and dysplastic hips. Significant work has been published from the department in peer reviewed journals and at national and international conferences on design in total knee arthroplasty, replacement in tuberculous hips and replacement in fused hips. More work is under publication process.

Facilities exist for conducting both revision hip and knee arthroplasties. A specialized anaesthesia team makes pre , intra and post-operative management comfortable.
