Department
of Surgical Gastroenterology
This department is one of the first of its kind in the Western Maharashtra region, offering a comprehensive GI Surgical management. The department examines over 6,000 patients each year. It performs about 250 supra-major operations and 250 other major procedures every year. A variety of diagnostic and interventional surgical, laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures are performed on a state of at Video-endoscopy suite The department provides opportunities for observer ship, for those from other departments and elsewhere in the state and the country. The department is recognized by National board for DNBE- Surgical gastroenterology and has one seat per year since 2006.

Our
OPD timings are:
Monday: 1.30 pm - New Building Ground Floor, Room
Nos.: 3, 4 and 5
Saturday: 9.00 am - New Building First Floor, Room No.: 4
The department has already conducted seventeen basic laparoscopic training courses and one national advanced laparoscopic course. The courses are conducted every 2-3 months. This course includes live surgical demonstrations, hands on training, endo training sessions, didactic lectures and small group discussions. A special feature of this course isa session on human cadaveric dissection and performance of various laparoscopic procedures by participants. This is unique facility is available for the first time in India - probably in Asia .
We
conduct a monthly CME programme consisting of interactive sessions, participation
being from both consultants and residents from our hospital as well as other hospitals.
