INTRODUCTION

CONFLUENCE is An International Medical and Research Conference organized by the students of the Academic Department of Seth G.S. Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. This 4-day academic and research extravaganza returns year after year. There are Pre-conference days for Workshops covering a wide range of Clinical Skills, Research and Innovation ideas focusing on the hands-on learning experience. This year CONFLUENCE 2022 is returning in a Hybrid format.

The event where Symposium teams comprising of 6-12 students each under the guidance of their Principal investigator present their research work in front of a panel of esteemed doctors and medicos. Exponere (Protocol Presentation)

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”

Exponere, the protocol presentation competition is the culmination of the National level Peer- based research Mentorship program. CONFLUENCE ’22 provides you a one-of-it’s-kind platform to collaborate and brainstorm ideas with minds spanning various states. Every team will comprise a group of mentees guided by an experienced mentor. The aim is to collaboratively come up with a novel research protocol and pitch your proposal in front of a panel of eminent researchers. Buckle up, as we walk you through a fulfilling learning experience where you learn, teach and apply at the same time.

Aegeus(The Research Quiz)

CONFLUENCE 2022 presents Aegeus- the first of its kind Evidence-based Research Quiz at a UG Medical Conference. It covers all aspects of Research that we as medical students need to be aware of viz. Concepts of study designs, biostatistics, ethics and interpretation of results obtained.In a world where evidence-based medicine is considered paramount, it becomes important to understand and interpret the findings and to keep abreast with the latest developments.The quiz will deal with all aspects of Research from start to end. As mentioned before this includes: Concepts of study designs, biostatistics, ethics and interpretation of results obtained.

Aesculapius- the Clinico-patho correlation quiz

Named after the Greek god of Medicine, Aesculapius– the Clinico-patho correlation quiz blends the gravity of the hospital wards with the fast paced excitement of a quiz.The event is a rigorous exploration of all four years of undergraduate medical education, to be conducted in three rounds- two preliminary online rounds followed by a final offline round.The unique final round features the opportunity to interact with real patients for a holistic test of a participant’s clinical skill.

 

PRAELIUM(Evidence-based Debate)

Presenting PRAELIUM: An Evidence-based Debate, which combines the spirit of debate with solid research literature facts and clinical evidence-based practices. Emerging medical issues and controversies will be taken up and debated in pairs. This dynamic debate will provide you with a unique opportunity to learn an evidence- based approach for application in your future projects. In our field, it is but the countless hours spent perfecting a skill that makes you an expert and every patient that makes you a better clinician.CONFLUENCE ’22 strives to bring to you ; the pioneers and the visionaries of medical practice, all to pass on the tremendous experience of their respective fields condensed into a series of student-friendly workshops. This year, join us to learn about advancing medical innovations, research how-to’s and hands-on clinical skills in any doctor’s toolkit over a course of four days.

Panel discussions

Panel discussions are the hallmark of modern conferences and events, even virtual ones. CONFLUENCE 2022, an annual UG medical conference organised by KEM hospital and Seth GSMC, gives the students a chance to hear from the excellent panelists on important topics of health care and public interest. The purpose of panel discussion is to spark conversation between a group of experts, so that the audience can learn from their discourse and interaction.

Talks is where experts put up there opinion and influence the audience and get them thinking about what they are doing and what they should/could be doing. Webinars offer students with an interest in medical education to get a chance to mingle with experts and like minded colleagues around the globe in a discussion pertaining about hot recent topics of clinical medicine/medical research. Apophenia – Paper Presentation

Writing and Presenting a perfect paper is a lot like a military operation. It takes discipline ,foresight, research strategy and if done right ,ends in total victory. We the Confluence team 22’ present to you an opportunity to highlight your work infront of skilled juries and amazing audience. Spark interest in your research and entice the audience to read your research paper. INTRODUCTION

Great history comes with a necessity to celebrate it. As the twin institutions of the Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital further their march towards their centenary year of 2026, we realize the need to remind each student, staff member and alumnus, how great a history they are part of!

And stepping up to the role is GOSUMAG. It is the fabric that binds together generations of GSites, and in its delicate seams, shelters a rich and vibrant legacy of 85 long years! THE KEM marathon provides an opportunity to do it all. Aavishkaar presents a heaven for all the runners, a picturesque course with the city of Mumbai and our prestigious institution in its backdrop.

Asking people to put on their thinking caps and running shoes because this is no ordinary quest. A set of ultra clever clues await as the clock ticks away.

Oh and that’s not all, a scavenger hunt for the quirkiest items will leave you panting and running with joy.

GS MUN

Model United Nations is an academic stimulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country. An amalgamation of great ideas from all over the world, GS MUN is not just another MUN!

ALFAAZ

The fest’s blockbuster Hindi dance and drama show. It strives to tell you an engaging story sprinkled with breathtaking dances. The performances of actors will transport you to another world as you laugh and cry along with them. You wouldn’t believe these are medical students and not theatre actors.

FAHRENHEIT

Fahrenheit is set to take the inter-collegiate fashion competition to a whole new level with better demonstrations, speeches, costumes, glamorous walks, reports, and more. Fahrenheit is known for its great music and charm.

DREAMZ

May it be contemporary or Bollywood, Hip hop or Jive. Come, experience the beauty of motion in all its forms at this main stage event, where the finest of our dancers, from freshers to interns, will make you move on their grooves.

APURVAI

Apurvai, a Marathi dance and drama, is set to step into it’s 19th year of glory. A theatrical extravaganza which has been graced by the presence of influential and prodigious personalities from the field of theatre. Apurvai will win your heart over, irrespective of whether you understand Marathi or not.

AALAP SWARANJALI

Aavishkaar provides an opportunity to develop one’s inner talents to full potential. One such event is Aalap Swaranjali which, over the years, has provided a centre stage to our budding singers who have then brought glory to the college.

This event highlights the melodious singers and proves that the institution is more than just an academic institute.

EXCELSIOR

A week entirely dedicated to all sports enthusiasts from different colleges across the country who come together to play and to win! Every sport finds recognition here- be it outdoors like Football, Basketball, Lawn Tennis etc or indoors like Chess, Table Tennis or Badminton!

N20

Aavishkaar presents an event filled with laughter gas (hence the name). N20 brings the best personalities and comic kings to lighten the tension and add a tinge of fun and humour to everyone’s life! Whether a person prefers comedy delivered with dry wit, ribald cynicism, or silly banter meant to engage the audience, there is something for everyone in N2O comedy through the years.

SMAAASH

An event with a whole lot of exhilarating virtual encounters, electrifying arcade action and sporting thrills- Smaaash is the perfect description of ‘One is never too old to be young!’

GAMING WEEKEND

With the most intense game modes and popular game tournaments, players are bound to get fiercely excited and win amazing cash prizes. Multiple online games including FIFA, chess, PUBG, BGMI etc that will transform you to a different timezone and bring the gamer within you to life!

PROM

A night full of fun, dance, great food and maybe some romance. Prom is one of the most awaited events of Aavishkaar and it always lives up to the hype. Couple or not, be prepared to have the time of your life.

FINE ARTS

Colours from the rainbow flow down from the skies onto the walls of the college building, and rangolis on the dias, mehendis on soft hands and posters on the brick walls. Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time. Art is not what you see, but what you make others see. And this is exactly what Team Fine Arts believes in doing!
